FORT COLLINS, Colo. --Â The Southern Miss women's golf team finished the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in seventh place in Fort Collins, Colo. The 11-team field at Ptarmigan Country Club was paced by Colorado State, who broke several records along the way.Â
"Mo is off to a hot start this season," said head coach Lucy Nunn Burke. "It's been really cool to watch her continue to grow and how comfortable she has become on the course. Despite the low scores at the top of the leaderboard this week, this group as a whole is close to firing on all cylinders. We've got some time between now and Tulsa to rest and prepare for a big stretch that ends with us at home."
Junior Momoka Ando enjoyed her third-straight round of under-par golf with a two-under 70 during Tuesday's final round. Ando shattered her 54-hole career hole with a 207 -- her previous low was 215. She also set a new program record 54-hole total and bested Nichada Satasuk's previous record by four strokes. The Tokyo, Japan native finished in sixth place on the individual leaderboard.Â
Elena Melich finished in a tie for 29th after a one-over 73 during her final practice. The junior had three birdies as she went back-to-back rounds with a 73 on her scorecard. Alma Betoret and Taylor Trible both finished in a tie for 44th. Betoret ended her tournament with a five-over 77, while Trible had a six-over 78. Freshman Ragini Navet fired a five-over 77 to finish in 47th.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action at the Dale MacNamara Invitational in Broken Arrow, Okla. on Oct. 9-10. The two-day event is being hosted by Tulsa at Golf Club of Oklahoma.Â
