Women's Golf Set to Open Ptarmigan Ram Classic Monday Morning

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's golf team is off to Fort Collins, Colo. to play in the Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole tournament will be played at Ptarmigan Country Club and the 6,468-yard course will play as a par 72 for the two-day event. The 11-team field includes Colorado State, Bowling Green, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, Colorado, Fresno State, Hawaii, LaSalle, Long Beach State, Southern Miss, and Wyoming.
The Golden Eagles will field a five-person lineup of Alma Betoret, Elena Melich, Momoka Ando, Ragini Navet and Taylor Trible. Ando leads all student-athletes with a 72.0 stroke average through the first tournament. The junior opened the year with a fifth-place finish at the USA Intercollegiate.
Melich and Trible return to the lineup after firing 219's in Mobile to finish in 13th in the season opener. Navet made her collegiate debut a couple of weeks ago and found herself in the lineup once again after a 17th-place finish three weeks ago. Betoret finished21st in her first outing and had back-to-back one-over 73 rounds.
The first round gets underway at 10 a.m. CST on Monday morning, then the second round will follow immediately after. Tuesday's final round will feature a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
