Ando Leads Southern Miss Charge at Ptarmigan Ram Classic

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Junior Momoka Ando continued hot start to the season on Monday as she fired her way to a tie for sixth after 36 holes of play at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. The women's golf team is in eighth on the team scoreboard at Ptarmigan Country Club.

Ando tied her career best round with a four-under 68 in the second round on Monday afternoon. The Tokyo, Japan native birdied six holes during the second 18 of of the day, including three-straight on the back nine. She enjoyed a three-under 69 to open the tournament and had five birdies to finish with 11 on the day -- that was the third-most by any golfer through 36 holes.

Elena Melich is tied for 29^th after a two-over 74 this morning and then added a one-over 73 to close out the first day. Taylor Trible carded a four-over 76 and a three-over 75 to sit in a tie for 41^st. Alma Betoret and Ragini Navet are tied for 43^rd and 50^th, respectively.

Through 62 rounds of golf as a Golden Eagle, Ando has upped her total rounds under par to 16. Melich leads all current golfers with 21 rounds under par in her career.

The final round will tee off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. Live scoring can be found here.
