Southern Miss Hosts Arkansas State at Home

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Golden Eagles are back in action on Sunday; Southern Miss (4-4-1, 1-0-1 SBC) will face Arkansas State (2-4-2, 0-1-1 SBC) at 1 p.m., hosted at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.Â
The Black and Gold lead the series against the Red Wolves 4-0-2. The two faced each other last season, resulting in a 2-2 draw.Â
Last time out: Lexy Griffin led the Golden Eagles to their first conference win of the season against Troy on Thursday night.Â
The Trojans took an early lead within the match's first five minutes. Jordan Stack took a pass from Carley White, ensuing for an early lead. Troy led 1-0 in the half, following many blocked shots for Southern Miss.
Seven minutes into the second half, Rebeka Vega headed the ball into the top center of the net following the corner kick from Hinano Nakagawa. With 14 seconds remaining, Nakagawa passed to Griffin, who sent a shot to the top left corner of the net off her left foot, breaking the tie.Â
Scouting Arkansas State: Arkansas State heads to Hattiesburg with an overall record of 2-4-2 and 0-1-1 in conference play. Facing Texas State Thursday evening, the Red Wolves and Bobcats ended in a scoreless draw. Arkansas State's Keelyn Peacock led the team with four shots and a pair on target. Â
