Men’s Golf Finishes 10th in Bearcat Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss junior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) shot a team-low round of 70 and freshman Supakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) added a one-over 72 to lift the Golden Eagles to a 10th-place finish Tuesday in the 54-hole Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Golden Eagles shot a five-over 289 over their final 18 holes to finish 26 strokes behind team champion Chattanooga (838) at the par-71, 7,279-yard Coldstream Country Club.
Senior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) fired a 74 over his last circuit to end with a team-bet 213 score and a 16th-place tie. Senior Thongpipat Rattanyanon (Bangkok, Thailand) compiled a 73 over his last round for a 214 and an 18th-place tie.
Dupuy enjoyed his best round of the event to complete his 54 holes as he and Amornchaichan each finished with a 221 total and a 62nd-place tie. Senior Bennett Ruby (Waterloo, Ontario) rounded out the Golden Eagle finishers with a final round of 75 and a 227 overall score to finish tied for 77th.
Following Chattanooga in the team standings were Louisville (846), BYU (849), host Cincinnati (852) and Florida Gulf Coast (856) rounding out the top five.
Southern Miss returns to action at the Oregon State Invitational, Oct. 9-10, in Corvallis, Ore.
