Southern Miss Closes Fall Slate at Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational Tied for 12th

SAUCIER, Miss.— Southern Miss shot a 10-over 298 in the final round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational on Monday, climbing a spot to tie co-host Ole Miss for 12th at 35-over at Fallen Oak Golf Club.
Jake Moffitt and Matthew Javier each posted a one-over 73 to lead the Golden Eagles. Moffitt jumped from a tie for 60th into a tie for 49th at 10-over 226. He made four birdies, on the par-5 first, the par-4 10th, the par-5 13th and the par-3 14th. He shot a 37 on the front nine and a 36 on the back. Javier climbed from a tie for 72nd into a tie for 62nd at 13-over 229, his best round of the event. He made birdies on the par-3 eighth, the par-4 12th and the par-5 13th and played the back nine in a one-under 35.
Benjamin Fernandez shot a three-over 75 and is the top Golden Eagle at five-over 221, tied for 25th. He made birdies on the par-5 sixth and the par-5 13th and played the back nine in even-par 36.
Supakorn Amornchaichan shot a five-over 77 and is tied for 62nd with Javier at 13-over 229. He made back-to-back birdies on the par-4 fourth and fifth holes and added another on the par-3 14th.
John Markow shot a nine-over 81 and finished 70th at 16-over 232. He made birdies on the par-5 first, the par-4 11th and the par-3 17th, but a stretch of three straight double bogeys from the eighth through the 10th kept his score from counting toward the team total.
No. 1 Arkansas, No. 12 Illinois and No. 46 South Carolina are tied for the lead at four-over. No. 9 Tennessee is one shot back at five-over with players still on the course. No. 30 Wake Forest is fifth at 12-over, followed by No. 36 LSU at 15-over and No. 14 Georgia at 16-over. Co-host No. 34 Mississippi State is 11th at 29-over, six shots ahead of the Golden Eagles. Co-host No. 37 Ole Miss is tied with Southern Miss at 35-over. The Golden Eagles finished 11 shots ahead of Wisconsin and 14 shots ahead of Iowa.
