HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss beach volleyball returns to action for the one-day Blazer Beach Bash, hosted by UAB in Birmingham, Ala.
Last Time Out
Southern Miss (15-17) had a tough showing at Florida State's Unconquered Invitational, finishing 0-4 in the tourney. All four opponents of the weekend were ranked 15th or better and three inside the top 10.
Previewing the Matches
The weekend features three matches, all scheduled for Saturday, April 15.
The Golden Eagles open play against Central Arkansas (7-15), whom Southern Miss has already met twice before this season, at 8 a.m. Southern Miss is 2-0 against the Beach Bears this season and 4-1 all-time.
Match No. 2 is against host UABÂ (14-13, 2-0 C-USA). UAB finished 1-3 last weekend, downing UT Martin, at Georgia State's GSU Diggin' Duals. Southern Miss is 1-5 all-time against their former conference-mate, last winning on April 23, 2021.
Southern Miss closes action in Birmingham against the Tulane Green Wave (16-8). The Green Wave enter the weekend ranked 17th in the AVCA Coaches' Poll and fresh off a six-game tour of California. The meeting is the first of three games the two teams will play this season, making up three of the final four games of 2023.
