Texas State Uses Fourth Quarter to Overpower Lady Eagles

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Texas State rides a strong fourth quarter to escape Hattiesburg with a 69-52 win over Southern Miss. Domonique Davis and Lani Cornfield each contributed 19 points in the effort, marking Cornfield's career high.
Tale of the Tape
Southern Miss and Texas State played a close three quarters before the Bobcats (17-7, 9-4 Sun Belt) rocketed off 25 points in the final ten minutes. The Lady Eagles fall to 15-9 (8-5 Sun Belt) after the loss. The two squads entered the day in a five-way tie for second place in the Sun Belt Conference standings.
Lani Cornfield (Gowanda, N.Y. // Northwest Florida State) and Domonique Davis (DeRidder, La. // LSU) each scored 19 points, pacing both teams.
The Bobcats finished with four in double-digits with Da'Nasia Hood leading the Texas State line with 17 points.
Cornfield's close defensive play and tact led to her to foul out in the fourth quarter, leaving her final line at 19 points, two steals and two assists.
Both squads entered the final frame with Texas State up 43-42 before the Bobcats roared out to a double-digit lead and never looked back.
