Men’s Golf Finishes Tied for 9th at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf squad fired a final round 293, Tuesday, to place tied for ninth in the two-day, 54-hole Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston, Texas.
The event, which was played at the par 72, 7,148-yard Westwood Golf Club, saw the Golden Eagles see two of its players shoot a 71 over its final round.
Junior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) carded one of those scores to enjoy the lowest finish for the squad with a even-par 216 stroke total and a 22nd-place tie.
The other 71 came courtesy of junior Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand), who ended his tournament with a 224 and a 56th-place tie.
Sophomore Ryan Dupuy collected a two-over 74 over his final 18 holes to post a four-over 220 to place tied for 38th, while graduate transfer Cameron Clarke (Pittsboro, Miss.) fired a 77 to end with a 223 and a 56th-place tie. Bennett Ruby, a junior from Waterloo, Ontario, rounded out the Golden Eagle scoring with an 81 to finished in 90th place with a 235-stroke total.
The Golden Eagles finished with a team score of 881, which tied them with Abilene Christian for ninth in the 16-team field. Sam Houston won the team event with a 839, followed by Houston (848), Lamar and Oral Roberts (855), UT Arlington (858), host Rice (862), ULM (864), UTSA (866), followed the Golden Eagles and ACU.
Southern Miss returns to action March 5-7 at the Dufner-Tiger Invitational in Opelika, Ala.
