Men's Basketball Heads East to Old Dominion for Wednesday Night Battle

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss (24-5, 13-3 SBC) men's basketball team is on the road this weekend as it opens a two-game road stretch at Old Dominion (17-11, -7 SBC) on Wednesday night to close out the regular season. Tip from Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Va. is set for 6 p.m. CST on ESPN+.

Golden Eagle Nuggets
- Through 16 Sun Belt games, the Golden Eagles are off to their best conference start in program history since turning Division I. The 1949-50 NAIA team had 14 wins in conference play
- After a 73-62 win against Georgia Southern on Saturday, Southern Miss has a one-game lead over Marshall in the Sun Belt standings
- The Golden Eagles can clinch the regular season championship with a win and a Marshall loss. They also win outright with wins over Old Dominion and Texas State
- Southern Miss reached 24 wins on Saturday to tie the 2011-12 team for the most wins in a regular season by any Golden Eagle team since turning Division I. The win also kept them in possession of first place in the Sun Belt

- Old Dominion heads into the final weekend of play with a 17-11 record and a 9-7 mark in Sun Belt play
- Tyreek Scott-Grayson leads all Monarchs in scoring at 13.9 points per game, while Long (10.6) and Chaunce Jenkins (13.4) are both in double figures as well
- Long averages a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game

- This is the 15th meeting between Southern Miss and former C-USA foe Old Dominion
- It's the first time since 2020 that the two are meeting, which resulted in a 68-58 Old Dominion win
