HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss (3-3, 0-0 SBC) men's tennis team fell 4-3 to Samford (4-4, 0-0 SoCon) on Friday afternoon at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.

Samford made quick work in doubles play to open a 1-0 lead before singles play started on a chilly affternoon. Alexander Gima and Olimjon Nabiev went unfinished on court two, but the Bulldogs won the other two doubles matches 6-0 and 6-4.

Nabiev cruised to a 6-5, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles to pick up his team-best fifth win of the season. Pawin Jirapoomdaje grabbed his third win of the season with an epic 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Will Gray on court six. The Golden Eagles also got a win from Antoine Audrain.

The Golden Eagles will head to Lamar on Monday, Feb. 20 to take on the Cardinals at 11 a.m. They then will play Prairie View A&M in Beaumont, Texas on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.
