HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â The Southern Miss (3-2, 0-0 SBC) men's tennis team will host Samford (3-4, 0-0 SBC) on Friday afternoon at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 1 p.m. and admission is free. Krispy Kreme donuts will be handed out to fans while supplies last.Â
"Samford is strong team and it will be a great test for us on Friday," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "They have played a challenging schedule with teams like Alabama, Auburn and Kennesaw State. We'll have to play at a high level to win."
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 7-0 win over Alcorn State last Sunday to extend their winning streak to two straight. Olimjon Nabiev picked up his team-leading fourth win to move his record to 4-1. Dakotah Bobo and Pawin Jirapoomdaje each have two wins on the season to sit behind Nabiev in the win column. In doubles play, Alexander Gima and Alan Sanson are 3-0 with all three wins coming on court two.Â
The Samford File
Samford heads to Hattiesburg on a two-match winning streak with wins over Alabama A&M and North Alabama. Four different Bulldogs are 3-3 on the season, with three others recording at least one win. Maxwell Giddens and Mohammed Ali Bellalouna have both won two matches at the top doubles position. Three different doubles pairings have won at least three matches this season for Samford.Â
