Jacorriah Bracey (Drew, Miss.) grabbed her first double-double of the year with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Domonique Davis (DeRidder, La.) led the Lady Eagles with 15 points. Noelani Cornfield (Gowanda, N.Y.) also tacked on 11 points of her own.
STORYLINES
Davis is tied for the 24th-most points in program history with 1,037.
Southern Miss looked semi-human for the first time this season against Valparaiso in the middle two quarters, but is still outpacing its opponents by an average of 24.8 points per game.
Joye Lee-McNelis is now eight wins away from 550 career wins. When hitting that number, she will be the 27th active coach and 61st-ever to do so in Division I.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
The Fighting Hawks (1-3, 0-0 Summit League) are still looking for their first win over a Division I opponent. They have lost their previous three tries, but are closing the gap on the scoreboard.
The Hawks are very conservative with the ball, averaging 63.5 points per game but only giving up 13.2 turnovers per game. The team's scoring average is ranked 222nd in Division I but its turnovers per game is 32nd.
Mallory Bernhard, a 2011 graduate and former women's basketball player for North Dakota, faces off another former player leading their former team in Coach McNelis. There are 41 total Division I coaches to lead their alma maters, including Bernhard and McNelis.
Bernhard is 37-50 in her fourth season at the helm in Grand Forks.
SERIES HISTORY
Southern Miss has never met North Dakota on the court before. In fact, North Dakota is the northern-most team Southern Miss has ever played.
