
Southern Miss Takes Game One of Lady Eagle Classic, Moves to 5-0

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss remains undefeated through five games for the first time since 2007 after a 75-53 win over North Dakota in the first game of the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic. Four Lady Eagles finished with double figures, led by Domonique Davis' team-best 22nd game with 20 points.
Southern Miss (5-0) trailed for the first time all season after failing to connect on its opening possession. North Dakota (1-4) held on for all of one minute and 11 seconds before Southern Miss made its correction. The Lady Eagles lead the game for the remaining 37:38 and lead by as many as 29 points early in the fourth quarter.
Domonique Davis (DeRidder, La.) collected her 22nd career game with 20-or-more points to lead all scorers. She was joined by Noelani Cornfield (15), Melyia Grayson (12) and Brikayla Gray (11) in the double-figure scoring category. Gray also led both squads with a season- and career-high nine rebounds.
The Lady Eagles drilled eight long balls on 20 attempts for a 40.0 percent clip. The team entered the day with the nations' 12th-best three-point percentage. Southern Miss has now hit 33 long balls in five games. Last season, it took Southern Miss eight games to hit the 30 mark.
North Dakota's 27 turnovers are the most forced by the Lady Eagles since Jan. 12, 2023, when the team forced 25 Arkansas State giveaways.
