Men’s Golf Holds Seventh-Place Tie after Opening Day at Oregon State Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Seniors Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) and Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) each shot a low round for Southern Miss over the first 36 holes of the Oregon State Invitational in Corvallis, Ore., Monday to help the Golden Eagles tie for seventh place.
The event is being played at the par-71, 7,384-yard Trysting Tree Golf Club and Latter opened his event with a three-under 68 in the opening round. Rattanayanon added a one-under 70 during the second circuit of the day as Southern Miss fired team rounds of 287 and 294 for a 581-team total. The Golden Eagles rank tied in seventh with Seattle University.
Host Oregon State shot a six-under 562 to lead the event after the opening day with Arkansas State eight strokes back in second with a 570.
Latter added a 73 in the second round for Southern Miss to end his day with a one-under 141 and is tied for eighth, while Rattanayanon added a first-round 74 for a 144 total and a 17th-place tie.
Redshirt freshman Walker Wise (Tupelo, Miss.) fired a 72 and a 76 and freshman Supakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) poured in a 73 and a 75 as each finished with a 148 and in a 48th-place tie.
Junior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) added a pair of 76s to finish with a 152 and a 73rd-place tie.
The final round, Tuesday, will employ a shotgun start and the field tees off at 10:30 a.m. CT.
