HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Senior Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) shot a team-low 73 over the final round Tuesday as Southern Miss finished 14th in the Daniel Island Intercollegiate in Charleston, S.C.
The Golden Eagles finished the fall portion of their campaign by shooting a 305 over the final round to finish with an 896 overall total at the par-72, 7,332-yard Ralston Creek Course at Daniel Island. Middle Tennessee won the team event by posting a 10-under 854, and defeated VCU (856) by two strokes and ULM (858) by four strokes in the 18-team event.
The 73 was the lowest round for Rattanayanon during the week, as he finished at 224 and a tie for 53rd. Despite carding his highest round of the event of 76 on the final day, freshman Supakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) was the Golden Eagles top finishers tying for 23rd with a 217 overall stroke total.
Senior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) shot a 74 over his final 18 holes to end with a 222 and a 41st-place tie. Juniors Cameron Guidry (Picayune, Miss.) and Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) each ended their tournament with final rounds of 82 apiece. Guidry placed tied for 82nd as his 54-hole total ended with a 235, while Dupry shot a 241 to end tied for 90th.
The Golden Eagles return to action Feb. 12-13 in Mobile, Ala., at the Hal Williams Collegiate.
