HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â For the second consecutive year, the Southern Miss women's' golf team will host The Judson at Hattiesburg Country Club. The event will start on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
The Country Club is set to play as a par-72, 6,136-yard track. Monday's opening round will be followed by another 18 holes in the afternoon. Tuesday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with a team and individual champion. The 12-team field includes Belmont, Central Michigan, Drake, Tarleton State, Texas A&M - Commerce, UAB, Central Arkansas, Cincinnati, North Alabama, Southern Alabama, Southern Miss and Western Illinois.Â
The Golden Eagles took the field by storm last season en route to a third-place finish after ULM won the team title. Alma Betoret and Elena Melich finished in a tie for fifth to lead all Southern Miss golfers. Lucy Nunn Burke's lineup for this edition of The Judson is Ragini Navet, Elena Melich, Momoka Ando, Taylor Trible and Alma Betoret. Fernanda Gorostiaga, Jacee Fields and Merche Corbacho will be playing as individuals.Â
Prior to last season, Southern Miss last hosted The Judson in 2016 -- the Golden Eagles topped the field that season with a first-place finish. This year marks the second time the event is being hosted under Nunn Burke's watch.Â
The Judson is named in honor of Jim and Beth Judson, parents of former student-athlete Lauren Judson. Jim and Beth tragically passed away in a fatal plane crash on their way home from Memphis, Tenn., where Lauren had just competed with Southern Miss.Â
