Men's Golf Opens Play in Fallen Oak Collegiate; Tied for Fourth after 18 Holes

SAUCIER, Miss. – Southern Miss senior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) shot a two-under 70 and junior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) added a 72 here Sunday to lead the Golden Eagles to a fourth-place tie after the opening day at the Fallen Oak Collegiate.
The Golden Eagles, playing at the par-72, 7,487-yard Fallen Oak Golf Club, ended the opening round with a team score of two-over-par 290, which put them in a tie with SMU. The Golden Eagles trail leader Mississippi State (276), Auburn (282) and Ole Miss (289) in the team standings after the first 18 holes.
Latter holds a sixth-place tie in the individual competition, while Dupuy ranks tied for No. 19. Redshirt freshman Walker Wise (Tupelo, Miss.) added a 73 to rank tied for 25th, while freshman Supakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) added a 75 for a 44th-place tie and Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) fired a 77 for a 58th-place tie.
Junior Cameron Guidry (Picayune, Miss.), who was playing as an individual, sits in a 32nd-place tie after shooting a 74 on his opening 18 holes.
The Golden Eagles were second on par-3 holes during the day finishing one-over for a 3.05 average, while tying for second on number of par holes with 55. Dupuy also posted a second-best tie of a 3.90 average on par-4 holes.
The tournament continues with the second round, Monday, as the 12 teams begin teeing off at 9:30 a.m., CT from both No. 1 and No. 10 tees.
