Women's Golf Finishes in Ninth at Dale MacNamara Invitational

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team finished in ninth-place following Tuesday's final round of play at the Dale MacNamara Invitational in Broken Arrow, Okla. Junior Momoka Ando finished in a tie for 15th-place to lead the Golden Eagles for the third consecutive tournament.

"We did a lot of things really well this week: adjusted to wind, maintained our composure when things got tough, and we stayed true to our game plan," said women's golf head coach Lucy Nunn Burke. "Across the board there were too many big numbers that prevented us from climbing the leaderboard, but Golf Club of Oklahoma prepared us well for Old Waverly."

Sophomore Taylor Trible had the low round of the day for Southern Miss as she fired an even-par 72 to climb into a tie for 36^th. The Birmingham, Ala. native carded four birdies on the day to bring her tournament total to eight. Ando finished the tournament with a two-over 74 to drop into a tie for 15^th. Ando had back-to-back birdies on holes two and three before finishing with a team-high 11 birdies.

Junior Elena Melich had a two-over 74 to finish the week in a tie for 36^th. Melich, Ando and Trible finished as the top-three Southern Miss finishers for the second time this season after ending the USA Intercollegiate in the same order on the individual leaderboard.

Sophomore Jacee Fields had a nine-over 81 on Tuesday to slide into 77^th. Freshman Ragini Navet had her best round of the tournament, firing a three-over 75. Navet finished in 80^th. Southern Miss finished the tournament with 41 total birdies and had the third-best stroke average on par 3s.

Tulsa finished in first place after going eight-under for the tournament. South Florida (-6), UTSA (-4) Colorado State (-2) and Nebraska (+6) rounded out the top-five. Southern Miss finished eight strokes ahead of Sun Belt foe Arkansas State, who finished in 10^th.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Oct. 23 in West Point, Miss. for The Ally. The three-day event will be played at Old Waverly Golf Club.
