
Women’s Golf Primed for Hoover Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A year after flooding forced the Hoover Invitational to audible to a different golf course, the Southern Miss women's golf team will finally get its chance to tee off at Hoover Country Club on Monday morning. The two-day, 11-team event will feature 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagle lineup this week includes Momoka Ando, Alma Betoret, Elena Melich, Friend Chompitakdacha, and Jacee Fields. Taylor Trible will make her collegiate debut competing individually. Southern Miss will be joined in the field by UAB (host), Belmont, South Alabama, Memphis, North Alabama, Jacksonville, Southern Illinois, Samford, Northern Colorado, and Alabama.
Hoover Country Club will play as a par-72, 6,019 yard course. In the season opener two weeks ago, Ando paced the Golden Eagles with a t-18 finish and a team-low 68 on the first day. Melich and Fields both finished 22nd, highlighted by Fields' eight birdies during the final round.
Southern Miss finished in 4th at the Hoover Invitational in 2021, which saw Ando finish tied for eighth. The Golden Eagles will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
