Beach Volleyball Closes Out Home Slate at Southern Miss Beach Invitational II

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss returns to the friendly sands of Hattiesburg for the final home matches of 2022 in the Southern Miss Beach Invitational II.
Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles return to play after going 4-1 last weekend at the Southern Miss Beach Invitational I. The Black & Gold faced Nicholls, Chattanooga, Huntingdon, Spring Hill and Texas A&M-Kingsville, losing only five points over the entire tournament.
Southern Miss enjoyed 5-0 victories over Nicholls, Huntingdon and Texas A&M-Kingsville, respectively. Against Chattanooga, the Golden Eagles emerged victorious, 3-2.
The squad's only loss on the weekend was a narrow 2-3 defeat at the hands of Spring Hill.
Previewing the Competition
The Southern Miss Beach Invitational II begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8 when Southern Miss hosts Conference USA foe, ULM. The Warhawks enter 8-15 on the year and fell to Southern Miss 4-1 the last time they met.
Southern Miss finishes its portion of day one at 4:30 p.m. against Central Arkansas. The Beach Bears and Golden Eagles have squared off once before with Southern Miss taking the match 5-0.
Day two of festivities begin with match No. 2 against Spring Hill in 2022. The Sandy Badgers defeated Southern Miss last weekend 3-2 and finished 5-0 in the tournament. They currently have a record of 17-5 with the potential to be 20-5 when facing Southern Miss.
The last opponent for the Golden Eagles will be, for the second time this season as well, Tulane. The Green Wave and Golden Eagles last met at the Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge, La.
Tulane would go on to take that match, 3-2. Now, Southern Miss looks to even the 2022 record against Tulane along with taking their first victory in the eight game series.
