Men's Tennis Slated for Rematch Against No. 43 FAU at C-USA Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team is set to take on No. 43 Florida Atlantic (17-5, 2-0 C-USA) in the opening round of the Conference USA Championships on Friday morning in Norfolk, Va. as the No. 7 seed. First serve from the Old Dominion campus is scheduled for 9 a.m. CST.
"We have a chance to do something special this weekend and I hope our guys sense that," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "We're going up against a very talented team and I think we've prepared to play them at our best."

The Golden Eagles (9-9, 0-3 C-USA) are coming off a nail-biting loss to New Orleans on Monday afternoon where Dhruv Sunish was honored as the lone Southern Miss senior. Sunish came out victorious in a three-match thriller to give the Golden Eagles some life in Hattiesburg. The Privateers took advantage of claiming the doubles point and won three matches to secure the 4-3 win in the regular season finale for both teams.
Shamirul Shahril and Olimjon Nabiev each claimed their team-leading ninth win of the season in Monday's loss, while Sunish grabbed his sixth win. Pasawee Reansuwong and Sunish were looking to extend their winning streak in doubles to five-straight but went unfinished on court three while trying to close out the sixth set.
