Southern Miss Falls in Road Finale at No. 47 FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team fell in its road finale on Saturday morning at No. 47 FAU (15-4, 2-0 C-USA). The Owls scooted to a 7-0 win over the Golden Eagles (9-8, 0-3 C-USA).
"FAU is a really good tennis team and I thought we battled hard," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "We've got one match left before the conference tournament and we'll look to get things right before the tournament."
Dhruv Sunish and Pasawee Reansuwong were the only Golden Eagles to pick up a win this morning after handily beating FAU's third pair in doubles play. Sunish and Reansuwong beat Alvaro Fernandez Horta and Gerard Escandell, 6-2. FAU tooks doubles wins against Alexander Gima/Alan Sanson and Shamirul Shahril/Antoine Audrain to claim the doubles point.
Christopher Cahour was the only Southern Miss player to go three sets in singles play and nearly knocked off Finn Stodder on court six. Cahour dropped a close first set before winning the second set by four points. The junior then fell 10-7 in the third set.
Sunish, Shahril, Gima, Audrain and Olimjon Nabiev dropped singles matches. FAU extended its winning streak to four matches after today's win and moved to 2-0 in Conference USA play.
Southern Miss will next take the court on Sunday, April 10 against New Orleans. First serve from the Southern Miss Tennis Complex is scheduled for 2 p.m.
