Golden Eagles Fall at Troy and Alabama State this Weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches this weekend, falling 4-0 to Troy (10-6, 0-0 Sun Belt) on Saturday afternoon before dropping a Sunday contest at Alabama State (3-5, 2-0 SWAC), 4-1.
The Golden Eagles (2-6, 0-2 C-USA) failed to win a doubles point this weekend but saw Alan Sanson and Alexander Gima defeat Alabama State's top pair this afternoon. It was the pairs first win at the top spot this season after previously seeing time on court two and three.
Dhruv Sunish was winning his match against Troy's Pelayo Antuna before he went unfinished. Antoine Audrain and Olimjon Nabiev were also in the third set when their matches went unfinished. Shamirul Shahril picked up the lone singles win of the weekend after he swept Alabama State's Sam Bajracharia, 6-2, 6-3. It was his team-leading third win of the season.
The Golden Eagles will now play at South Alabama on Friday, March 11 before heading to Florida on their spring break trip.
