Lady Eagles Battle UAB for First Place in C-USA Western Division

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A four-game winning streak and the top spot in the Conference USA west division will all be on the line tomorrow night when the Southern Miss women's basketball team faces UAB at Reed Green Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

Scouting the Blazers
• Randy Norton enters his ninth season as the head coach of UAB women's basketball team in the 2021-22 season, compiling a 159-105 record to this point.
• Zakyia Weathersby is fifth in the NCAA with 15 double-doubles, 15th with 11.2 rebounds per game and 11th with 4.4 offensive rebounds per game. She ranks first in Conference USA shooting percentage (55.6%), and total rebounds (225).
• Emily Klaczek set a career-high with 26 points in UAB's 86-70 win over WKU on Jan. 27. She scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter, going 5-for-5 from the field, 4-of-4 from 3-point range and a pair of foul shots.
Scouting the Lady Eagles
• Southern Miss is off to a 10-2 start at Reed Green Coliseum this season, including winning seven of the last eight at The Greenhouse.
• Dating back to the 2019-20 season, Southern Miss is 22-1 when holding opponents under 70 points, with the only loss coming against FIU in OT last season. Consequently, the Lady Eagles are 0-19 when giving up 70 or more.
• Southern Miss ranks first in Conference USA in field goal percentage, shooting at an effective 43.9 clip through 22 games. The Lady Eagles have shot 40% from the field or higher in all but four contests this season.
• Southern Miss has been getting after it on the boards, as the Lady Eagles currently rank second in Conference USA and are in the top 40 in the country, grabbing a total of 897 boards so far this season.
