Men's Basketball Set for Season Opener Monday Night Against William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â Southern Miss men's basketball will open year four of the Jay Ladner era on Monday night as it hosts William Carey at 7 p.m. inside Reed Green Coliseum. It's the third consecutive season that the Golden Eagles have opened against the Crusaders, who reside just a couple miles down Highway 49.

- Nine new players will grace the Southern Miss roster this season: Austin Crowley (Ole Miss), Neftali Alvarez (Mercer), Cobie Montgomery (Triton), Victor Hart (FIU), Nico Aguirre (Southwest Baptist), Donovan Ivory (Green Bay), GianFranco Grafals (Eckerd), Felipe Haase (Mercer) and Marcelo Perez (Barry)
- The Golden Eagle roster is built with experience as the average age is 22.1 years old, while newcomers have combined for over 300 games of Division I experience
- Head coach Jay Ladner returns Tyler Morman, Mo Arnold, Denijay Harris, DeAndre Pinckney, Trey Alfonso, Jeff Armstrong and Tate Ryder from last year's team
- DeAndre Pinckney is the top returner in terms of points per game (8.9), 3-point field goals (30), total rebounds (176), steals (16), blocks (13)Â and total minutes (818)Â
- Spending two seasons at each South Carolina and Mercer, Haase has accumulated 1,228 career points and 654 total rebounds
