Women's Tennis Heads to Lafayette for Last Fall Competition

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis team will close fall competition this weekend at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational on Friday Nov. 4th and Saturday, Nov.5 in Lafayette, La.
Making the trip to Lafayette is juniors Clara Tardivel and Suhana Das, sophomore Maddison Ricardo and newcomer Hannah Chambers.
Southern Miss last traveled to Baton Rouge, La. to take part in the ITA Southern Regionals form Oct.13-Oct.16. Richter and Chambers had a remarkable doubles competition on day two of competition with their victory in their tiebreaker over Alabama 8-7(4.) On day two, they also defeated McNeese opponents.
Returner Das defeated Louisiana in the singles qualifying round with two scores of 6-3 while Richter found a victory over Louisiana Tech with two scores of 7-5, 6-2. Das kept her momentum in the main draw round of 64 singles over Tulane opponent in two sets of 6-2. Tardivel also had a defeat over Tulane which allowed her to push past the round of 64.
With two outstanding days at the ITA Southern Regionals the squad fell on day three but are looking to use this final tournament as a prolusion for spring competition.
