HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Lady Eagle basketball returns to action tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Reed Green Coliseum against Mississippi College. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Last Time Out
Southern Miss (4-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) is riding a three-game win streak for the first time since Feb. 7 of last season. The Lady Eagles cleared the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic unblemished after defeating Nicholls 83-68 on Friday, Nov. 25, and finishing off Lamar 56-48 on Saturday, Nov. 26.
The weekend proved to highlight both sides of the Lady Eagles' game. Friday's match was all offense thanks to a 34-point third quarter and dominating performance by Lady Eagle junior guard Domonique Davis (DeRidder, La. // LSU).
Just a day later, the scripts flipped, and Southern Miss outlasted Lamar in a defensive struggle, holding the Cardinals to a season-best 48 points.
Davis, for her efforts, earned All-Classic MVP honors and Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.
Melyia Grayson (Hattiesburg, Miss. // Hattiesburg HS) and Jacorriah Bracey (Drew, Miss. // Ole Miss) also slotted in on the All-Classic team.
The Mississippi College Series
One of Southern Miss' oldest series that has since gone dormant, the Choctaws (2-5, 1-3 Gulf South Conference) and Lady Eagles squared off 27 times in 15 years from the inception of the Lady Eagle program to 1990.
The Black & Gold hold a 16-11 advantage over MC and are currently riding a three-game win streak in the series since the last matchup on March 3, 1990.
Southern Miss 9-5 in the confines of Reed Green Coliseum against Mississippi College.
