Southern Miss Track and Field Release 2022 Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Coming off a historic season in 2021 that saw the women of Southern Miss track and field capture their first Conference USA Indoor Championship in program history, head coach Jon Stuart has unveiled the indoor and outdoor schedule for the men's and women's 2022 season.
"We are very excited about the start of a new season," said Stuart. "Each year, we challenge our team with extremely competitive meets that set us up for success at the conference and national level. This year the schedule is no different, as it will allow us to go head-to-head with some of the best competition in the country and showcase our talented team."
Southern Miss will once again alternate between Birmingham, Ala. and Nashville, Tenn. for the indoor season.
The team opens the season at UAB's Blazer Invitational at the Crossplex in Birmingham on Friday, Jan. 14, before making a trip to Nashville for the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 21-22. The team returns to Birmingham for the Jaguar Invitational hosted by South Alabama on Feb. 6. The Black and Gold will conclude the regular season returning to Nashville on Feb. 11-12 for the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt.
They will head back to the Crossplex for both postseason meets of the season on Feb. 19-20 for the C-USA Indoor Championships and conclude the indoor season on Mar. 11-12 at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Southern Miss opens the outdoor season by splitting the squad between the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on Mar. 24-26 and the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays on Mar. 25-26. The Golden Eagles return home to host the Southern Miss Invitational on Apr. 1-2, with Saturday being senior day. USM then heads south to Baton Rouge, La. for the Joe May Invite on Apr. 9 hosted by LSU. The Black and Gold travel to Alabama for a pair of meets, competing at the War Eagle Invite on Apr. 15-16 in Auburn, before heading to Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide Invite on Apr. 22-23. Southern Miss returns to the Magnolia State to close the regular season at the Maroon and White Invite on Apr. 29-30 in Starkville.
The Conference USA Outdoor Championships will be hosted by UTSA in San Antonio, Texas May. 12-15. Qualifiers from the season will then go to the NCAA East Regional in Bloomington, Ind. on May 25-28. The NCAA Track & Field Championships will take place in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field on June 8-11.
