HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss cross country returns to action on Friday afternoon at the Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invitational. The Golden Eagles will take part in the gold race scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. from the Burke Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.

"We're looking forward to seeing where we stack up against some of the best teams in the country," head coach Nick Gibson said. "The course provides an opportunity for our girls to go out and run great times against some really good competition. I'm excited to see how we've improved from our first race to now."

The gold race features 24 teams from across the country including Akron, Auburn, Ball State, California Baptist, Central Michigan, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Clemson, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Indiana State, IUPUI, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Southern Illinois, UIC, Western Michigan and Youngstown State.

Lina May, Katelyn Cartwright and Rebecca DeKay all look to build off of PR's at the North Alabama Showcase two weeks ago, while Carlin Beal returns for her season debut in South Bend. Kate Mattox, Cassidy Teuscher and Sarah Parnell will also toe the line for the Golden Eagles.
