HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss freshman outfielder Reed Trimble (Brandon, Miss.) added to his postseason awards Friday as he was named to the Perfect Game/Rawlings All-America third team.
Trimble, who garnered a first-team All-Conference USA selection as well as All-Freshman team honors following the regular season, collected Freshman All-America honors by Collegiate Baseball as well as a spot on the Freshman All-America first team by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) earlier this month.
This week, the NCBWA also included him as a second-team All-American, while the American Baseball Coaches Association tabbed him second-team All-South Region.
Trimble tied for the team lead in batting average at .345 as he also held top spots on the squad with 17 home runs and 72 RBI, as well as compiling 12-of-14 stolen base attempts. His RBI total also ranks tied for first in the country with Andy Garriola of Old Dominion.
Trimble added 14 doubles and two triples while posting a .414 on-base percentage and a team-high .638 slugging percentage as he played in 59 of the team's 61 contests.
He was second on the team in multiple-hit games with 24 (17 2-hit, 7 3-hit, 1 4-hit and 1 5-hit) and first in multi-RBI contests with 13 (6 2-RBI, 5 4-RBI, 2 5-RBI, 1 6-RBI and 1 7-RBI).
Trimble finished his year with a 12-game hitting streak, posting a .475 batting average (28x59) with four doubles, seven homers and 27 RBI. He also ended the year by reaching base in each of the last 22 games – the longest by any player in 2021.
He is the fifth different player to earn this accolade from the website since 2017. Both Nick Sandlin and Matt Wallner were two-time All-America selections.
