HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss track and field team continues their season at the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn University at the Hutsell-Rosen Track this weekend in Auburn, Ala.
"We're looking forward to some great competition," head coach Jon Stuart said. "I think our team is headed in the right direction and this meet will give us another opportunity to get some good marks as we move closer to the postseason."
The Golden Eagles will be joined by Auburn, Alabama State, Cincinnati, Memphis, Mississippi State, Missouri, MTSU, Samford, Southern Miss, Syracuse, Troy and UAB.
Southern Miss will have 32 student-athletes compete over the course of the two days on The Plains, with 16 apiece for both the men and women.
Friday's action will be primarily field events with the hammer throw, long jump and javelin throw taking place in the afternoon. Auburn native Sarah Parnell will be the lone Golden Eagle to take the track on Friday as she takes part in the 3000m steeplechase for the first time in her career.
Action picks up on Saturday with the men's high jump and women's triple jump beginning the day at 11:30 a.m., before things kick off on the track with the women's 4x100 relay at noon.
