Women's Tennis Set for Home Finale Against Alcorn Friday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's tennis team is seeking to complete its third-straight undefeated home season, and 23rd home match overall, when it hosts Alcorn at 2 p.m. Friday.

The team will also honor seniors Katia de la Garza (Nuevo Leon, Mexico) and Tanit Lopez (Barcelona, Spain) prior to the action.

Southern Miss (7-2) has won four in a row, with three coming against C-USA foes (Middle Tennessee, UAB, Louisiana Tech). It has also won the doubles point in each of the last three, improving the overall mark to 14-10.

The Golden Eagles had earlier plans this season with the Lady Braves, but COVID-19 protocols within their program kept them from venturing to Hattiesburg. Southern Miss also had its Saturday matchup with Loyola called off for the same reasons.

Southern Miss' regular season concludes with road tilts at Southeastern Louisiana (April 5) and New Orleans (April 17), followed by the C-USA Championships at North Texas (April 22-25).
