Southern Miss Men’s Tennis Claims Their Fourth Victory Over Illinois State

The Golden Eagles Men’s Tennis Squad post the best start to a season since 2005.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Golden Eagles improve to 4-0 after emerging victorious over Illinois State at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex Monday afternoon. Under the leadership of Zubin Engineer, the Golden Eagles have seen the best start to a season since 2005 with four consecutive wins.
"This was a good win against a solid Illinois State team," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "We got off to a good start in doubles winning all three doubles matches. We worked on a few key things in practice and the team got it going the right way. The team is showing good fighting spirit and stepping up in different spots. Today Alan Sanson and Antoine Audrain delivered singles wins at the No. 2 and No. 6 spots. Christopher Cahour continues to be rock solid and has delivered three deciding match wins for the team."
Doubles
Southern Miss set the tone early claiming all three doubles victories over Illinois State. Hsaing Yi Wang and Antoine Audraine saw the day's first victory winning 6-2.
Alexander Gima and Matthieu Peres followed suit winning 6-3.
The final doubles match was concluded after Alan Sanson and Olimjon Nabiev claimed a victory of their own, winning 6-4 over Illinois State.
Singles
Alan Sanson and Antoine Audrain led the charge for the Golden Eagles in singles competition. Sanson posted a final set of 6-2 and claimed his match for Southern Miss. Audrain closed out the day winning after two sets.
The Golden Eagles play next on March 14 at 2:00 p.m. (CT) in a home match versus Troy at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
