Men’s Tennis Hosts North Dakota

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss Men's Tennis prepares to host North Dakota on March 20 at 2:00 p.m. The men's tennis squad enters the contest at 4-1.
The Golden Eagles have had an outstanding start to the 2021 season. The team began their campaign 4-0 marking the best start to a season since 2005.
Southern Miss looks to continue the momentum into Saturday's competition and emerge victorious over the Fighting Hawks.
The last time out
The last time out, Southern Miss fell to Troy 6-1 on a hard-fought match in Hattiesburg.
"The team played hard and showed good fighting spirit," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "We have a few things to work on in practice. The focus is on continuing to improve and practice."
Olimjon Nabiev continues to perform for the Golden Eagles winning his singles match and competing with tenacity. Nabiev is 3-1 on the season.
The Opponent
North Dakota has a record of 8-3. In their last matchup the Fighting Hawks won 6-1 over Oral Roberts on March 12. The team is led by head coach Tom Wynee who enters his 30th season as head coach of the Fighting Hawks.
North Dakota has a record of 2-0 at home and 5-3 when on the road.
