Southern Miss Set for Two-Day Horned Frog Challenge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Golden Eagle beach volleyball team is headed to the Lone Star State for the Horned Frog Challenge, which runs Friday and Saturday at TCU. Live scoring is available here.

The Fort Worth field features No. 9 TCU, No. 14 FIU, UAB and Central Arkansas. Southern Miss' only all-time meetings with the schools were 4-1 defeats to UAB and UCA in the inaugural 2019 campaign.

The Golden Eagles are coming off four matches against top-18 competition (Florida State, Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount and Georgia State) at last weekend's Seminole Beach Bash, coming up just short in several pairings. Three freshmen joined the fray in the season debuts: Valeria Siakidou Papakyriakou, Kai Norman and Kaylie Beck.

Kylie Grandy and Abbey Wilson also retained their No. 1 spot for the second-straight season.

TCU is 4-0, with three wins coming against ranked foes, while also having its No. 1 duo claiming AVCA National Pair of the Week honors. Central Arkansas is 5-0 after sweeping a North Alabama tournament, while UAB is 4-0 after shutouts of Utah, New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana.
