HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Sixteen matches later, the Golden Eagle beach volleyball team is set for its home debuts Monday as part of a five-match event.
Monday's Schedule
10 a.m. - New Orleans
12 p.m. - New Orleans vs. Spring Hill
2 p.m. - Spring Hill
4 p.m. - New Orleans vs. Southeastern Louisiana
6 p.m. - Southeastern Louisiana
The squad previously had four-match swings at Florida State, TCU, South Carolina and LSU, facing nine ranked teams overall. Southern Miss is 5-10 all-time at home, including 1-2 last year in the season-opening weekend (fell to New Orleans twice before defeating ULM). The team's only other weekend prior to the COVID-19 shutdown also saw neutral victories over Spring Hill and Southeastern.
Head coach Shawn Taylor switched the lineup some in the team's last go, moving Haley Hop and Valeria Siakidou Papakyriakou together as well as Kai Norman and Hallie Phelan for three contests apiece.
Kylie Grandy and Abbey Wilson have remained the steady duo on No. 1, going 8-8 so far and reaching No. 25 and 26 in the latest national rankings, an impressive achievement for the program in its third year.
