Golden Eagles Fall in Two Matches to Begin LSU Beach Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La. -- South Carolina and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi were too much for the Southern Miss beach volleyball team in its opening day at LSU, falling 4-1 in each contest.
Kylie Grandy and Abbey Wilson earned two gritty wins on No. 1, moving them to 7-7 on the year despite one of the more challenging schedules in the country. Faith Miller and Haley Rogers appeared in the first matchup, giving them their first action since the TCU tournament two weeks prior.
THe only three-setter of the day was Breleigh Favre and Olivia Hepworth in the nightcap, but the Islanders took a 15-12 decision in the clincher.
The Golden Eagles will look to get back on track Sunday with New Orleans (12:30 p.m.) and No. 3 LSU (3:30 p.m.).
