Baseball Series Schedule with Northwestern State Altered

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Opening day for the 2021 Southern Miss baseball season will be pushed back a day.
The Golden Eagles, which were supposed to open the campaign on Friday against Northwestern State at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field, will now play a 12 noon doubleheader, Saturday, Feb. 20, with two nine-inning games.
The two teams complete the series with a 1 p.m. contest, Sunday, Feb. 21.
Winter conditions currently being experienced in North Louisiana, with more expected until Friday, will not allow the Demons to travel to Hattiesburg in time for the Friday opener.
This will be the second time Southern Miss has not started its year on the official opening day of baseball season in eight seasons. The 2014 campaign got started on a Saturday in Lake Charles, La., after its initial opponent, Stony Brook, was unable to travel south to Hattiesburg due to a huge snowstorm in the northeast.
All three games can be heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network presented by Learfield-IMG College as well as the Southern Miss Gameday App. Fans can also watch a webstream through CUSA.TV.
