
Southern Miss Women’s Soccer Host South Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team (1-0) will play its first home match of the 2021 season on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 5:00 p.m. (CT) at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles will take on the Jaguars of South Alabama in their 2021 season debut.
The last time out
In the last match, Southern Miss edged out Nicholls State in a 2-0 contest in Thibodaux, La.
Ariel Diaz, a senior forward from Lubbock, Texas. found the back of the net twice in the second half thrusting the Golden Eagles to a season opening win on the road.
Noteworthy moment
- The outstanding offensive performance resulted in Ariel Diaz being name the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week ending Feb. 13. Diaz logged 76:00 minutes played and tipped the scales for the Golden Eagles.

South Alabama leads the series with an all-time record of 5-3-0. The Golden Eagles won the last matchup when the two teams met Sep. 5, 2019 edging out the Jaguars out in a 1-0 contest.
The opponent
South Alabama is led by head coach Richard Moodie who is entering his fourth year as head coach of the Jaguars. Moodie led the Jaguars to their fourth straight Sun Belt regular season title, fifth consecutive Sun Belt Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
