
Southern Miss Returns Home to Face Samford

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss women's basketball will look to get back in the win column as they welcome Samford to Reed Green Coliseum for a 2 p.m. tip on Saturday.

Saturday's contest will serve as the Lung Cancer Awareness game for the Lady Eagles. Fans are asked to wear white and the first 150 fans at Reed Green will receive a rally towel, while the first 100 fans receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Southern Miss Athletics.
Scouting Samford
• Head Coach Carley Kuhns is in her 3rd year as the leader of the Bulldogs, having posted a 99-56 record to date.
• Samford is off to a 1-2 start. The Bulldogs opened the season on the road with a tough loss at No. 9 Iowa, before returning home to earn their first win of the season over Montevallo. Most recently, Samford fell to Jacksonville State on Wednesday night.
• Junior guard Andrea Cournoyer enters the weekend ranked No. 1 in the SoCon in scoring at 18.7 points per game while ranking No. 3 in 3-point FG percentage (47.8).
• The Bulldogs have captured back-to-back Southern Conference regular season championships, including the 2019-20 SoCon Tournament title.
• Samford was voted to finish 2nd in the SoCon by the league's coaches.
• Freshman guard Sanaa Redmond is currently No. 2 the SoCon in assists per game at 4.7 after dishing out 14 assists through three games.
Scouting the Lady Eagles
• Southern Miss currently sits at 2-1, after dropping their first road contest at Alabama on Wednesday night.
• Hometown hero Melyia Grayson is averaging close to a double-double after the first two games of her sophomore season. Grayson is second on the squad with 12.3 PPG and leads the Lady Eagles in rebounding with 9.7 RPG.
• Transfer Domonique Davis has made her presence with the Lady Eagles felt immediately, through the first three games, Davis has been the leading scorer in two, while dishing out the most assists in all three contests.
