Men’s Golf Finishes Fall Slate with Battle at Black Creek

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team plays their final tournament of the fall slate when they participate in the Battle of Black Creek in Chattanooga, Tenn., Monday and Tuesday.
Being played at the par 72, 7,060-yard course at the Black Creek Club, the course has hosted the Korn Ferry Tour from 2003-2011 as well as co-hosting stroke play for the 2005 USGA Mid-Amateur. This inaugural event hosted by Chattanooga will consist of 36 holes on Monday with the final 18 holes set for Tuesday.
The tournament opens Monday with a 9 a.m., ET shotgun start with an 8:30 a.m. ET start on Tuesday.
Along with host Chattanooga and the Golden Eagles, the field also includes Appalachian State, Belmont, Dalton State, Francis Marion, Presbyterian, USC Upstate, Stetson, South Dakota State, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech, Troy, Western Carolina, WKU and Winthrop.
The Golden Eagles will utilize the team of senior Hunter Atkins (West Point, Miss.), sophomores Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) and Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario), freshman Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) and senior Brian Richards (Gulf Breeze, Fla.).
Southern Miss has enjoyed two, top three finishes over their four matches this fall and the squad has averaged 284.00 strokes per round. The Golden Eagle individuals have registered 36 par or below rounds this fall.
