BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-- The Golden Eagles held steady with their second-round score from Monday, but the squad was unable to improve its standing to finish 10th at the Graeme McDowell Invitational.
Hunter Atkins posted the best round of the day with a 1-over 73 to tie for 30th, while Brian Richards finished with a 6-over 222 for the No. 28 slot.
Bennett Ruby turned out in the middle of the pack for his debut, tying for 46th at 12-over 228.
Some of the positives of the weekend included Ruby and Robbie Latter collecting eagles on the opening day, accounting for two of the nine overall.
Host UAB claimed the crown with an 11-under 853, edging Georgia Southern by five strokes after trailing by as many after the first round. ULM's Guillaume Fanonnel had back-to-back 67s to win the individual title.
The Golden Eagles return to action Oct. 12-13 when they head to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for The Grove Invitational.
