Men’s Golf Improves Team Score for Second Day to Complete The Tiger Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team bettered its team score for the second-straight day at The Tiger Invitational, presented by Jason Dufner, to finish 16th place in the event played in Opelika, Ala.
After firing a 307 during the team's first round on Sunday, the Golden Eagles improved by 12 strokes to 295 yesterday, before firing a 290 on the tournament's final day at the par 72, 7,289-yard Grand National on the Lake Course.
Southern Miss ended the event in 16th place with an 892, as senior Matt Lorenz (Fairhope, Ala.) enjoyed the best round of the day for the Golden Eagles with a 70.
Senior Walker Kesterson (Hartsburg, Mo.) and freshman Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) ended the tournament as the top Southern Miss finishers with a 221 stroke total, each finishing in a 37th-place tie. Both shot a 74 over the final 18 holes.
Lorenz ended his tournament with a 222 and a 42nd-place tie, while junior Brice Wilkinson (Madison, Miss.) fired a final-round 73 to post a 229 and a 74th-place tie in the individual standings. Junior
Brian Richards (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) collected a 232 after shooting a 75 over his final circuit to tie for 89th place.
The Golden Eagles return to action at Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C., March 29-30.
