Lady Eagles Take On Middle Tennessee for Mid-Afternoon Bout

Southern Miss will face the Lady Raiders at 4 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum on Saturday.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss women's basketball look to bounce back at home against Middle Tennessee on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip time.
Southern Miss (11-6, 3-3) will meet Middle Tennessee (12-7, 4-3)Â on their home court since January 26, 2017. The Lady Eagles lead the series 8-4 against the Lady Raiders, with a home record of 4-0. In the C-USA era and under head coach Joye Lee-McNelis, the Lady Eagles are 7-3.
The Lady Eagles continue their two-game homestand with the midday matchup. Southern Miss continues to Take the Lady Eagles to New Heights with the unique height promotion, with Saturday's player being Daishai Almond. The sophomore is 5'9", and so her ticket price is $5.09.
The Lady Eagles and the Lady Raiders both come to Reed Green off of a loss. Southern Miss fell to UAB on Thursday in a 74-68 decision to the Blazers at home, while the Raiders fell to LA Tech in Ruston, 78-60.
Southern Miss continues to be led by senior Shonte Hailes in scoring; she is up to 284 points this season. Respect Leaphart and Kelsey Jones are in a battle for first on the team in rebounding, both having wiped the boards 96 times thus far this season. In assists, Daishai Almond is the leader with 68.
For Middle Tennessee, the Raiders are led by redshirt-sophomore Anastasia Hayes with 330 points. Charity Savage, a senior, leads the team in rebounds with 214 while Hayes also leads in assists with 86. The Lady Raiders have eight newcomers on their roster for the 2019-20 season. Rick Insell is in his 15th season in Murfreesboro and has updated his record to 352-128 overall. Insell is the only head coach in the C-USA with more wins than Coach McNelis. Both head coaches have returned to their alma mater to coach their programs.
