Men's Tennis to Host Home Matches Friday and Saturday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis home slate will get underway this weekend with matches against Alcorn State and Florida A&M on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Each is set to begin at 2 p.m.

Admission is free to all home matches, and Friday's tilt includes free food for Southern Miss athletics staff. Southern Miss is also 42-9 at home in head coach Zubin Engineer's tenure.

The Golden Eagles started their season on the right note, defeating Prairie View A&M 7-0 in New Orleans on Tuesday. It was a golden opportunity for four of the team's freshmen to make their debuts. Matthieu Peres and Hsiang Yi Wang were the team's lone returners to appear and will look to continue experienced leadership roles.

Alcorn has had a tough go early with a pair of losses to LSU and one each to Eastern Illinois and UL Lafayette. FAMU is 0-5 to start the season but has faced a gauntlet that includes Florida State and FAU.
