
Southern Miss Begins Fall Play at SMU Fall Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's tennis coach Steve Schram will begin his second year at the helm of the program when the Golden Eagles kickoff play at the SMU Fall Invitational on Friday.
The three-day event in Dallas, Texas, will start at 8 a.m. (CT) on Friday and conclude on Sunday with the singles finals.

The Golden Eagles will send Arina Amaning, Monique Burton, Katia de la Garza, and Ebru Zeynep Yazgan to Dallas. De la Garza returns as the only player to reach double-digit wins last season. The Mexico native capped her first season in the black and gold with a 10-3 record.
Freshman Ebru Zeynep Yazgan had an impressive 9-3 campaign in her first year with the Golden Eagles. Amaning and Burton combined for 10 wins and seven losses while competing at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
On the doubles court, Burton and De la Garza posted a 9-2 record at No. 3 doubles. Yazgan and former Golden Eagle Rikeetha Pereira had a team-best 12-3 record at the No. 2 position. At No. 1 singles, Amaning and Tjasa Jerse, who graduated in May, had a 7-5 record.
