Women's Soccer Travels to Denton for Thursday Night Matchup Against North Texas

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team (5-4-0, 0-1-0 C-USA) is set to take on North Texas (6-3-0, 1-0-0 C-USA) in its next match. The Golden Eagles and the Mean Green will square off against each other on Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. (CT) at the North Texas Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in Denton, Texas.
The last time out
In its last match, Southern Miss fell to Western Kentucky 1-0 in double overtime on Saturday (September 21). Saturday's match against Western Kentucky marked the first of C-USA play for either team.
After a tough battle between both teams that resulted in 100+ scoreless minutes of play, Western Kentucky broke through when Ambere Barnett netted the game-winning goal at the 103:31 mark of the match.

Under Hedlund's direction, the Mean Green have captured 15 conference titles, made six NCAA Tournament appearances and have achieved a top 25 national ranking.
The last time that North Texas took the pitch, they came away with a 1-0 victory over C-USA foe Old Dominion on Friday (September 20).
Campus connection
Southern Miss junior forward Ariel Diaz began her collegiate career competing for North Texas. The Lubbock, Texas native transferred to Southern Miss in the Spring of 2019.
During her time at North Texas, Diaz was a part of the Mean Green's 2018 squad that won the C-USA Regular-Season title, the C-USA Tournament Title and appeared in the NCAA Tournament. She was also a member of the 2017 team that captured the C-USA Tournament Title and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
