Men’s Golf Places 9th in Graeme McDowell Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Freshman Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) shot a final-round 72 and junior Brice Wilkinson (Madison, Miss.) added a 76 to pace the Southern Miss men's golf team the final day of the Graeme McDowell Invitational, Tuesday, at the Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.
Played at the par 72, 7,299-yard Founders Course, Latter and Wilkinson each tied for 30th in the individual championship with a total score of 220, while the Golden Eagles finished with a three-round score of 888, after shooting a final-round 299 to finish the event in ninth place.
Freshman Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) added a 76 for a 223 final score for a 42nd tie, while senior Walker Kesterson (Hartsburg, Mo.) shot his third round of 75 for a 225 and a 52-place tie. Senior Matt Lorenz (Fairhope, Ala.) fired a final-round of 82 to end his event with a 240 and a 92nd-place tie.
Linus Lo of WKU shot three rounds of 69 to win the individual medalist honor with a nine-under 207, defeating Connor Futrell of Troy by three strokes.
North Florida won the team title with a 14-under 850, beating host UAB (851) by one stroke. Arkansas State finished third with an 854, followed by South Carolina (865), Memphis (867), Troy and Louisiana-Lafayette (882), Chattanooga (885), Southern Miss, WKU (892), ULM (893), Lipscomb (896), Samford (897), Jacksonville State (898), Winthrop (901), Southern Illinois (904), Wofford and High Point (906) and Nicholls State (915).
The squad returns to action when they travel to Bridgeport, W.Va., for the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational at the Pete Dye Club, Oct. 7-8, and hosted by West Virginia University.
