HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The accolades keep coming for Southern Miss graduate Valentina Haupt, as the former women's golf standout garnered WGCA All-American Scholar honors for the fourth time of her career.
The Santiago, Chile native is the only member in program history to hold the distinction (3.50 or better cumulative GPA) all four years. Sandra Sohlberg (2010-12) and Devon Spriddle (2014-16) were three-time honorees as well. Southern Miss has boasted nine representatives over the past four seasons.
"To be able to commit to four years of playing at a high level and maintain above a 3.5 GPA says a lot about Val," head coach Lucy Nunn said. "It takes a lot to be named an Academic All-American, and she's done it four times. We are incredibly proud of the ways she continues to represent us."
Haupt was a C-USA All-Tournament Team member this season (tying a career-low with a 2-under 214), just the second Golden Eagle ever to finish in the top-five at the conference championship. Her 115 career rounds tied for the school record, and she has the fifth-best career stroke average (76.22) in program history. She earned a 3.9 GPA during her undergrad tenure, including serving as the SAAC President this past year and being named Who's Who Among Southern Miss Students.
